AT THE MOVIES

One of the perks of being neighbors with a mall -- no-worries late-night movie dates. Here are some of the titles we watched recently...

KNIGHT AND DAY: Nothing new but fun to watch pa rin. It was raining too hard that's why we decided to watch this, to kill time. Relate kami? He's so Roy (pang-secret agent). I could be so June (kailangan i-sedate pag high action na, LOL).

A-TEAM: More his movie (didn't watch the series). But surprise! Surprise! I enjoyed it!

KARATE KID: This was such a drag. Ang bagal ng pace!

I liked the original movie better. Crush ko si Ralph noon!

We love our movie dates! We try to go at least once a week.

My popcorn: sour cream and onion
His popcorn: butter
Our drink: Coke regular (I used to hate Coke until I met J!)

Date highlight: always our conversations after the movie.

WHAT IF

My musings over Sophie's letter to Claire...

"What" and "If"
two words as nonthreatening as words come.
But put them together side-by-side
and they have the power to haunt you
for the rest of your life...
"What if?"

A past relationship left me with no "What Ifs" (Thank God!). Looking back (and believing I'm much more mature now), I can say both parties tried every possible option to make it last. We really fought hard for it (yes, ala-Romeo & Juliet). In the end, after working on all the "What ifs" we could think of, it became too clear, ours was a beautiful relationship but it came with an expiration date.

I don't know how your story ended.
But I know that if what you felt then was love - true love -
then it's never too late.
If it was true then
why wouldn't it be true now?
You need only the courage to follow your heart...

After watching the film with my dear hubby, J,
we both came up with the same What If.
What if he died May 28, 2004?
Yes, we can be morbid. We're weird that way.

Would I have survived the tragedy?
Would I have married someone else?
Or would I have chosen to stay single?

It started a night-long conversation of woulda, coulda, shouldas but I'll keep the details private. *wink*

We almost lost each other six years ago (see my "Do You Believe In Miracles?" blog entry). We don't want to be haunted by What Ifs so we live each day to the fullest, we love each other to the max. Our love rule: All or Nothing.

I don't know what a love like that feels like...
a love to leave loved ones for,
a love to cross oceans for...
but I'd like to believe if I ever felt it,
I'd have the courage to seize it.
I hope you had the courage to seize it, Claire.
And if you didn't, I hope one day you will.

One of my greatest blessings: living the kind of love some people just dream of.

Like I always say, I may not be rich, famous or powerful, but having my loved ones -- J and my family -- around me is proof that I DO HAVE IT ALL!

EARLY BDAY GIFT

Yesterday, J dragged me to the Apple Store, for an iPod Nano. After opening the box, he says, "This is for you."

Me: WHAT? WHY?

I didn't ask for it (FYI - I'm not tech-y).

Was so touched until his punchline -- "Para pwede ko na i-delete songs mo sa iPod ko!"

Kaya pala! LOL

SARAP NG WEEKEND!

Last Saturday, I wanted Rocky Road ice cream. J wanted Cheese. So we got both flavors. But the sweeter treat is getting a 3rd tub of our choice -- Pistachio & Cashew -- FOR FREE!

Totoo nga ang sabi ni Zoren Legaspi kay Carmina Villaroel sa Selecta ice cream TV ad, "Sarap ng weekend!"

WHAT'S YOUR STORY?

"The greatest love story ever told... is your own." -- Letters to Juliet trailer

Amen to that!
It's exactly why this blog exists.

So what's your story? =)

THANK YOU

I started this blog because I had a story to share. And because writing keeps me sane, it helps me find my center.

After every busy, crazy, stressful day, I look forward to having some quiet time. Just me and my thoughts. And when I still have the energy, I blog about our dates, about style. (My other thoughts stay private.)

Sharing and sanity were all I'm after.

The kind words of appreciation I've been receiving, they're icing on the cake. Thank you to all the ladies who've sent me messages, you're all too sweet, especially those I did not expect...

"I am truly touched with (your) journals...Plus nakak-entertain yung blog mo. It makes me smile, as if an affirmation that we all can be happy and live an interesting life with some effort and a good deal of enthusiasm." -- KR, Paris

"I just want to tell you how much I appreciate your intelligent, honest writing, your sensible personal style...and most importantly, your strong conviction of who you are and what you want in life." -- TM, Atlanta

"TR loves reading Out on a Date blog. Many realizations indeed." -- her FB status

"I'm a fan!" -- CR, Singapore

And something that really made me laugh: Nancy called me a "...modern design connoisseur." (We all know I'm not. LOL!)

THANK YOU all for taking time to read my stories.

101 FOR 34

Looking forward to my Birthday Weekend next month!

Guess where we'll be?

"...where earth and sky meet..."

STARTING THE WEEK RIGHT

Monday, June 14, was a Holiday -- what a perfect way to start the week!

We made it even better by:

1) Cleaning my parents' home.

We got their house a new walis tambo, new walis ting-ting, and a kilo (they were sold by the kilo!) of rags -- from the market (I enjoyed our trip to the market!). Marami talagang bagay na sa palengke mo lang makikita, wala sa mall, wala sa grocery. Then, we were off to our mission. Actually, my parents' house has several cleaning angels -- Ate C, Ate L, and Nanny E. Maraming nagmamahal sa kanila. But just the same, I like doing my share. And J's always willing to lend me a hand. I pray that the house be spared from another Ondoy. Please, God.

2) Visiting S a day before school opens.

We couldn't be with my super smart three-year-old niece on her First School Day due to a series of meetings. So we made sure we visit her before school starts. We even brought her some baon.

S: "Why did you bring me lots of bread (We got her different pastries.)?"
Me: "Because we love you."
And then she hugged and kissed us, "Thank you, Tita A, and Tito J. I love you."
Awwww.

Have a great week, every one!

BEIJING-BOUND

We'll be scaling The Great Wall after my bday blowout!

"ME AND YOU. JUST US TWO."

We finally saw SATC2 last night -- yes, pinagbigyan niya ako. J hated the film. I had fun. At the start of the movie, he was pretending to sleep, pang-asar. Sorry, didn't work. I'm just super grateful he accompanied me on opening night. I'm a happy wife!

So how's Carrie & Big's two-year-old marriage?

Here are the married scenes we could relate to:

1) Wedding scene. A married couple's reaction to Carrie & Big's "childless by choice" stance. I've seen THAT LOOK too many times.

2) "Me and You. Just Us Two."
Now, that is so us! Rolex: to follow, hehe.

*our shadows in Shanghai

But unlike Mr. & Mrs. Preston, we have no issues about staying in (Well, I was never a social butterfly like Carrie). J and I, we're a cocooning couple. We love our cozy (read: tiny) condo. Everything we want and need is here -- our DVDs, our books, our notebooks, our own wifi, the pool, the gym, the spa, our comfortable bed, the view of the city...each other.

So far too, there's no need for Time Out (hope it stays that way). Maybe it helps that we're free to have Me Time. Again, space in our togetherness.

I'm all for couples making their own rules. To each their own.

Hope your rules are working for you! =)
