After the show

The very first Wednesday of 2012 was Wicked! 

Hubby and I watched the multi-awarded musical, Wicked, at the Marina Bay Sands Grand Theater. We got the cheapest seats, only SGD58 each (around Php2030 each). Who says people on career breaks cannot enjoy Broadway?

I knew very little about the musical before we bought the tickets. And I must say I loved it! Fantastic story. Three songs made me cry - (1) I'm Not That Girl - Elphaba; (2) Defying Gravity; and (3) I'm Not That Girl (Reprise) - Glinda. My favorite: the set and costumes. I was in awe! The show we saw had audio problems though, nawawala-wala ang mic ng ensemble?

Hubby's not a fan of Broadway so he didn't share my excitement. But he happily accompanied me (love, love, love). He didn't sleep through it so OK na ako roon. His review of the musical: Legally Blonde meets Shrek. Lol.

We finally have our (cheap) tickets! Yey! Got them from the Marina Bay Sands box office (at The Shoppes), no queue today. Our target December date is sold-out so we're watching first week of January. It's our first musical in SG. Excited for a Wicked New Year!

Army Navy Burger & Burritos

We arrived at the CCP Complex at 7pm. So we had enough time for a quick dinner before the 8pm ballet. Like hungry soldiers, we attacked Army Navy.

I love their basic burger! So juicy! Php135.


J loved the Chicken Burritos! It's even better than the burger. Php135.
Yes, burritos before the Ballet, we're really non-traditional, hehe.

ENTREE
Ballet Philippines' September Gala

Bravo!
So glad we got complimentary tickets c/o the network and BP's corporate tie-up. [I heart my job. =)] Looking forward to the season's next performances.


Ballet Philippines launched its 41st season entitled "The Hero's Journey" with the September Gala. Evening performances were accompanied by the Manila Symphony Orchestra.

What was on your date menu last weekend?

CATS IN MANILA

Last weekend, hubby's FB status read, "Cats lulled (us) to a couple of catnaps."
But it wasn't a total waste of time, thanks to:

1) The Highlight: Lea Salonga's powerful performance. World-class talaga. To quote one review, "She's one Fine Feline!"

2) The stray cats during intermission. They were interacting with the audience. One even purred on my ear.

3) J knows his way through the Cultural Center of the Philippines. During the 20-minute intermission, every one headed to the ground floor food stand (There was only one and it was packed!). We sneaked to the empty CCP canteen for spaghetti and leche flan. Yey! At the end of the show, people were blocking the main exits. But since J knew his way around, we got out quicker than the rest by taking the Performers' Exit. Naaliw ako! He's really one cool cat! *wink*


After the show, we headed to Fely J's Greenbelt for the purrr-fect dinner. I had my favorite catfish (Cat pa rin? hehe) with buro (fermented rice), J had his fave adobo.
